NO TIME FOR CONTENTION
Questions are the portals of discovery. How do we defend our values while at the same time avoiding contention?
Elder Marvin J. Ashton gave a remarkable talk in April 1978 General Conference called "No Time For Contention" that seems uncannily pertinent to the times we are living through today. Here is the Quotelist of quotes we thought were good from the talk. One of the quote highlights from his talk says:
"We must not be manipulated or enraged by those who subtly foster contention over issues of the day."
Elder Ashton asks a pertinent question:
"As we take a stand against the evils of the day, such as abortion, homosexuality, immorality, alcohol, drugs, dishonesty, intolerance, etc., can we express our beliefs without clenching our fists, raising our voices, and promoting contention?"
